In your opinion, from personal experience or word of mouth, what is the most accurate in home pregnancy test? Any comparisons and/or prices of the tests would also be appreciated. Do you know how soon you can take the tests before your first missed period?

I have found urine pregnancy tests quite accurate. In 2 of my pregnancies I saw a positive 2-3 days after the date of my period. It might be best to wait as you could get a false negative if its done earlier, simply prompting you to repeat the test again in a few days. Use the first urine in the morning for best results.
A blood test (HCG) could show a positive even earlier, but it would be a lot more expensive.
If you are trying to get pregnant, in my opinion, just relax and don’t be overanxious to keep repeating the test. The more anxious you are, it just seems to take that much longer. All the best.
