What effects does adoption have on the adopted when he/she becomes an adult in romantic relatoinships?

Adoption by itself should not have a negative or positive effect on the adoptee’s future romantic relationships. What matters is the amount of love and security that child received in his/her family.
Any child – adopted or not – is going to have difficulties with intimacy or romance if they are raised in an environment that is unstable, creates insecurities, or indicates the child is not loved.
One thing that is important is for adoptive families (and everyone around them) to not make assumptions that the child will somehow be “scarred” or is “damaged” by the fact of adoption. That is a negative and hurtful message to a child, IMHO. There is NO EVIDENCE that adoptees are either more or less emotionally healthy than non-adoptees raised in similar environments.
