How did your “unplanned pregnancy” or “accident” happen?

Question by Baby #1 Due on HALLOWEEN!: How did your “unplanned pregnancy” or “accident” happen?
I was just wondering how exactly people have “accidents” and wind up pregnant when there are so many ways of preventing it? Then I was thinking that there are times when the condom breaks, maybe you were on the pill and then took an antibiotic that you didn’t know cancelled it out, maybe you leaked while doing the pull-out method, maybe you didn’t know you were ovulating or maybe you ovulated early/late, maybe you didn’t think you could get pregnant, or maybe you were just simply lost in the moment that pregnancy was the furthest thing from your mind?

So share with me…which one of these (or was it something totally different) was the result of your “accident”?
or let’s say “suprise” instead :)

throwing up for a few days, when taking the pill…. I technically “missed” days of the pill when I was ill….

Well I dont exactly consider my baby an accident.. she was a surprise.

We didnt plan a pregnancy.. but we didnt exactly “not plan” either.. we nixed birth control and figured, if it happened, it happened.

me and my ex husband were drinking .. but i would never call my daughter and accident.. she’s the best thing that came outta that relationship

You just about answered your own question. Condoms break, the pill sometimes just does not work, etc. Things happen and despite all this, I think the most often occurrence is the typical “it won’t happen to me” though process or ignoring the reality that sex causes babies all together.

  4. ???Mommy to Alyssa??? says:

It may have been an accident. It took us over 6 months to get pregnant with our daughter who is almost 8 months now.
But On my Birthday March 13th. We had sex, no condoms. I mean we are married.. Who cares.
I was and still am breastfeeding.
I got pregnant with having sex one time in that month.. And it took having sex every other day when we were trying. That cracks me up

My Mom actually told me that she was with my dad in the back of his car and the condom broke for me. There not together.. She was 21, she knew what she was doing. Stupid.. lol

I got pregnant with my first daughter using a condom that never broke or leaked. Then I found out at my ob/gyn’s office that they only work 85% at preventing pregnancies but 98% at preventing std’s. No method is 100% effective. Good thing I was married and we were stable enough to welcome a baby into the world.

Mine 2nd child was conceived without my consent. Does that qualify as an “accident”

The first time I was on the pill and wasn’t great about taking it on time. Every time after that we just weren’t using protection.

I was on the pill Yaz and ate some food I was allergic to and didn’t know it. I had to go to the hospital and they gave me like 5 different meds and one was and antibiotic. Little did we know that when you take antibiotics it makes your birth control less effective, so that’s how we got pregnant :)

well i was on birthcontorl and had to come off it. i tried 4 different kinds but it seems that birthcontrol causes my anxiety disorder to go into hyperdrive. i was having multiple panic attacks daily and when i came off the brith control they stopped. so i was taking a break and using condoms all the time… and one fell off. i figured it would be fine because i was stupid…. with my second surprise. i didn’t know the condom broke… my now ex neglected to tell me the condom broke until AFTER i found out. then he took off and is denying it’s his… nice guy huh? oh and inbetween kids i tried two different pills both effected me the same way…

Well my husband and I were using condoms and one night during the heat of the moment we started having sex and he came really fast…so…yea…

  11. Nurse Diesel says:

Well, my first unplanned pregnancy was when I was 19 and unmarried. I was just foolishly having sex like all the other annoying girls on this board. If YA had been invented then, I probably would have been on here annoying everyone by asking if they thought I was pregnant rather than just taking a test and figuring out my own life.
But I guess if I’d been into figuring out my own life, I wouldn’t have been using the withdrawal method in the first place. I had gone off the pill because of the side effects and I was just using the withdrawal method as a way of fooling myself into believing I was actually doing something to prevent pregnancy, instead of taking responsiblity for my actions.
But, I have a wonderful daughter to show for it, and I’ve been married to her father for 21 years – so sometimes even when you screw up your life, good things can come of it.

My second unplanned pregnancy was the result of the Today Sponge which was taken off the market while I was pregnant.

We weren’t trying but we weren’t preventing it either.

  13. avonmom says:

with my 13 year old I was young and dumb. We were only using condoms during the one week a month that I was likely to ovulate. I forgot my calender at home and we were at his house. I thought it was a safe week…I was wrong

With my 9 year old my 4 year old was outside riding his trike. Hubby could not wait the 10 minutes for the spermicide insert to melt…

with my 3 ( almost 4) year old I had been off the pill for 18 months. I went on the Atkins diet and lost 17 pounds in 6 weeks…and got pregnant. apparently I had been borderline diabetic and as soon as I lost the weight and the prediabetes, I was able to concieve…

needless to say, I either have a kid in bed between us, am on some sort of birth control OR use condoms. Next year one of us is getting fixed. I had a c-section 9 years ago so I think hubby is getting neutered :) )

I had been on Yaz for over a year, never missed a pill, wasn’t on any anitbiotics or anything like that. My husband and I got married January 3 and got pregnant 4 days later on our honeymoon. We figured since I was on birth control, we didn’t need condoms. (yeah, stupid moment, but hey. We’ve learned our lesson now =P) They say it’s only 99.9% effective and my doctor said that because of my own body chemistry, I fell into the .1% where it’s not effective.

Next time we’ll be using every available option of BC until we’re ready to have another one. But in the meantime, I wouldn’t change the way things turned out. I’m excited to have my own little “surprise”. :)
